Dr. Herndon has extensive experience in media and technology management. He was Vice President of Operations and Vice President for Planning and Product Development at Cox Enterprises' internet division. He also was Director of Operations at Cox Radio Interactive, a pioneer in deploying streaming media technologies. Early in his career, he was a business reporter and editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He also served six years leading technology initiatives as Administrative Editor. Prior to becoming a journalism professor at UGA, Dr. Herndon was president of Internet Decisions, LLC, a strategic consulting firm. He received his bachelor's degree in journalism from UGA and a master's degree from the Univeristy of Oklahoma. He earned a Ph.D. in Media and Information from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia. Dr. Herndon is the author of The Decline of the Daily Newspaper: How an American Institution Lost the Online Revolution. He had previously published two books about raising venture capital, entrepreneurship and innovation. Dr. Herndon is also a Certified Wine Sommelier, Certified Wine Educator and Certified Spirits Professional through studies with the Asia Pacific Wine and Spirit Institute. He also is a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist through the Wine Scholar Guild and an American Wine Expert with the Napa Valley Wine Academy. He is co-host and co-producer of the podcast Wines We Drink.
